Why AfroMedica?

Africa is a continent with more than 910 million people. Many of the countries are experiencing the following health hazards:
- Outbreaks of yellow fever, malaria, dengue fever, and HIV/AIDS
- Lack of prenatal and well-baby care that result in up to 10% infant mortality rates
- Deaths from preventable childhood illnesses due to lack of vaccines
- Critical food shortages due to weather or improper farming techniques
- Lack of clean drinking water
- Widespread lack of local healthcare facilities and trained medical personnel
Help is urgently needed to prevent many of the illnesses and deaths that result from these health hazards. Where can we begin?
The Goal:
Our goal is to build 1200 clinic units over the next ten years in English-speaking African nations, primarily in rural areas. We will also train local medical personnel to operate and maintain the clinic units once established, including the continued funding of the complex.
A clinic unit is comprised of:
As staff members are trained and funding obtained, the clinics which begin as urgent care centers will develop into full-scale hospitals.
How Can You Help?
- You can be part of a medical/humanitarian team to provide short-term care in selected areas of Africa.
- You can make a one-time gift or become a monthly partner to help build a clinic unit as described earlier. In most countries $250,000 will build a clinic unit.
- You can be an ambassador for Afromedica by raising awareness of the needs in Africa through your family and friends, churches, schools, or places of employment.
